Visa and Passport Requirements

All visitors must have a valid passport not less than 6 months from date of expiration and proof of return arrangements.

VISAs are NOT required. 30-days Tourist Visa will be issued upon arrival and may be extended within 7 days in advance with approval of the Chief of Immigration for a fee of US$50.00 before expiration date of the visa. (Note: Maximum of 90 days: 30 days upon arrival plus 2 extensions at US$50.00 fee per extension. After which visitors must exit the country). Citizens of United States of America, Federated States of Micronesia, Republic of the Marshall Islands, Guam, and the Common Wealth of Northern Marianas Islands with valid passports are issued 1 year Visa upon arrival. Citizens of Myanmar and Bangladesh must have a pre-approved visa.

Upon Arrival, All Visitors Must Sign the Palau Pledge, which is stamped into their passports.

When you visit Palau, you are asked to sign the Palau Pledge. All visitors must read the pledge and sign their name, committing to make an effort to protect the country’s natural environment and preserve local traditions for generations to come. It is a world-first initiative that requires all visitors to the country to make a commitment to protecting Palau’s natural environment and respect local traditions.

A little more about Palau’s Pristine Paradise Environmental Fee.

Pristine Paradise Environmental Fee (PPEF) – a visionary initiative born out of RPPL No. 10-16. Starting January 1, 2018, every international airline ticket into the Republic of Palau will include a nominal fee of One Hundred Dollars ($100 USD).

The PPEF goes far beyond a mere fee. It’s a heartfelt investment in the protection and conservation of Palau’s breathtaking landscapes and marine sanctuaries. Your support fuels our mission to safeguard the diverse ecosystems and ensures that future generations will continue to marvel at the splendor of this natural haven. The PPEF directly supports the Protected Areas Network in Palau.
